We offer the very latest British Canoeing Awards, ranging from the new Paddle Awards – Start – Discover and Explore, onwards to the Personal Performance Awards Canoe and Kayak Awards.
You don’t need any previous experience to take your Start Award, just the desire for fun.
This is a 3 hour course designed as an introduction or taster to paddlesport (kayak, canoe, sit-on-top or stand up paddleboard)
Courses Available 9am/12pm/3pm Certificate is an additional cost of £12 for BC Members £20 for non members
If you’ve completed a Start Award and want to learn more, the Discover Award is perfect for you. It’ll help you develop a better understanding of the fundamentals of paddling. The Discover Award allows you to develop your decision making and practical skills for a fun and safe time on the water, as you become a more skilled and independent paddler. Max 1:4 Ratio

The Explore Award is designed to help you gain confidence on the water, it is aimed at any craft, age and ability. If you want to become independent on the water, go on self-guided adventures and know how to control your craft and stay safe on the water, this is the award for you. Run over 2 days. Max 1:4 Ratio 9am to 4pm Some experience is necessary. Certificate is an additional cost of £12 for BC Members £20 for non members
The NEW Personal Performance Awards are designed for paddlers wanting to gain recognition of their learning and development, in the craft and environment they choose. The awards allow paddlers to improve their skills, working towards the award of their choice, developing their decision making and fundamental skills. There are no dual discipline awards and all of the awards are direct entry, giving the paddler choice.
This award works to develop appropriate decision making skills and apply them to an enjoyable and safe day out touring with your group. The award endorses your skill, judgment and decision making required to have a successful day on a river or estuary. You will be confident in planning and undertaking journeys with proficient skills to be in control throughout. This award can be used as a sound basis for the Open Touring Award.
This award works to develop appropriate decision making skills and apply them to an enjoyable and safe day out touring with your group in an open water environment. You will be confident in planning and undertaking journeys with proficient skills to be in control throughout. This award can be used as a sound basis for the Multi Day Award

This Award replaces the old 3* Touring Award. For Paddlers who are confident and efficient in paddling independently in the sheltered water environment. Cost: £100pp to include Training Day and Assessment and on successful completion a £10 registration fee for British Canoeing members (£20 for non members), is required to obtain your certificate. If you are not a British Canoeing Member River Fees will Apply
